This one is easy to answer.
He just told you that he loved you, and he led you on. He probably mentioned your future together, and even marriage.
When he approached you, he never thought about love, because he did not love you. He only thought about how he could take from you, until you were left a dried-out husk.
What would you do if you found out that someone had broken into your home while you were sleeping?
You gave him everything. That is what he was after.
He never loved you.
These types of NPD men are a dime a dozen.
